03-05-23 NCNWTF Board Meeting

Members present: Tim Draughon, Howard Rumfelt, Brent Phillips, Henry Smith, Robert Smith, Richard Plattenburger, Ken Moore, Bill Collart, Perry Byrant, Luke Gibson, Jason Huffstetler, Jessi Sackett, Ted White, John Edmondson, Roger Reynolds

Guests: Vickie Bryant, Dixie Smith, Hannah Plumpton, Chris Bryant

Tim opened with a welcome and with a thank you to all for helping with the activities at DDC. Ken opened with invocation.

Brent presented minutes from previous board meeting. Bill with motion to accept as written. Ken with 2nd, motion passed.

Henry presented financial statements from 3-1-23. Ken made motion to approve 2nd by Roger. Motion passed. Turkey research project that was voted to be funded in 2021 but put on hold during Covid was discussed and voted on to move ahead with project in 2023. Motion made to continue by Ken. 2nd from Jason. Motion passed.

Hannah our biologist gave an update from NCWRC meeting that had several board members in attendance. Presentation that by Chris Kreh will be available in NCWRC magazine soon.

No report from Cully

No RD present. Tim gave update that banquet season is underway and the reports from the ones held before board meeting were up from Covid years.

Howard with seed update said orders were up from past years. Hopefully we will receive what’s ordered but are not promised anything.

Henry stated December raffle tickets are available. Over 100K in prizes on list now. All are paid for with exception of the ATV.

Bill and John gave an update on the bourbon project for 50th anniversary. We currently have 40 bottles available.

Ted presented on the previous days call makers contest. All went well and numbers were up. Calls would start online as soon as Monday. Two-three classes will be posted each day via Facebook auction.

Youth photo contest was agreed to keep same rules as the year prior.

Bill presented and mad motion to give 500.00 to sponsor a NC youth shooter that had qualified for national shoot in Nebraska. Robert 2nd, motion passed.

The Leadership conference in Springfield Missouri will be 6-20 through 6-22. Registration will open March 13. Tim will get more info and conduct a conference call ASAP.

Robert asked everyone interested in saving turkey feathers for Raymon Clark a chaplain who works with Native Americans.
